How can i get my cat to behave and and stop waking us up?

I have a orange tabby who isn’t even a year old (we got him on mother’s day last year) I know a lot of orange cats have a bit of an attitude to them and when we got him fixed we thought it would make him a little less crazy (lol) we feed him part of a can-food in the morning before we get to school and then the other half at night, (through the day he has dry food down and note that half of can-food is split between him and another cat who is younger then him) so now he knows what time he should get his morning food. We give it to him when we wake up and leave for school/work. Obviously this can change cause we don’t always have to get up at the same time (normally by just like a half hour or so)Well at night he gets hyper so we make sure we leave the basement door open for him so he can play and we have our room doors shut so he won’t rip-tare through our rooms along with the other cat. well because of him thinking he runs the house he will get up around 3 or so and play then by 5am he is at the hallways door, digging at it so that it wakes all of us up and if that doesn’t work he meows so loudly that you can hear it all over the house. He will do this for some time and it really affects everyone’s sleep. Because of this my dad has been getting no sleep and is always in a mood and is saying he may just throw the cat outside for good he has even thrown a fit saying if something isn’t done he will just move out (of course he can be such a drama queen at times.) My cat can’t be an outside cat because of various reasons my mom wouldn’t allow it for one. What can I do to make him stop doing that so that we can keep him and get sleep? We have tried spraying him with water when he digs at the door and that doesn’t work, yelling obviously doesn’t work and makes everyone in the house bitchy and spanking him doesn’t work and we tried ignoring him but my mom won’t cooperate with us ignoring him. What can I do to make him behave and stop? (not meaning to make this into a novel. Sorry)
